The Building of History II: Chateau Tebeau Winery

Chateau Tebeau and the Battle of Lake Erie (1813)—Oliver H. Perry

Chateau Tebeau Winery, located close to Fremont, Ohio is an incredible visit for those who love great historic attractions, fantastic food, local wine, and top entertainment. This is the year of the celebration of the Battle of Lake Erie. America’s successful attempt to remove the British military occupation of the Western Basin of Lake Erie and Northwestern Ohio will be highlighted throughout 2013 at many locations in our region.

Mary and John Tebeau have created a beautiful country winery setting here in Sandusky County, not far from Fort Seneca, Fort Stephenson, and about 40 miles from America’s defeat of the British Fleet on Lake Erie by Oliver H. Perry! Their beautiful winery is nestled in the countryside of Sandusky County. After a successful career in providing top assisted living facilities around Northwestern Ohio the Tebeau’s are now serving some of the best wine and food available on the Ohio Wine Tour. I really like their peach wine and last year’s favorite that won a “gold seal” award, Maison Rouge—the Double Gold Award from the Finger Lakes Wine Festival in Rochester New York.

I was fortunate to visit the evening Rosemary Schramm performed her “wares” vocal excellence. An easy to listen to style, who sings all the favorites of the crowd, seems to make her a popular entertainment attraction wherever she sings. Another favorite of mine is Cynthia Kaay Bennet, a classy jazz singer from Adrian, Michigan can be enjoyed throughout the year on special nights. She has a trio of top musicians who accompany her unique style.
